Lets talk about Fabric
We only use the best fabrics available which have undergone years of testing. The fabrics we use are designed for and used in the marine industry on boats that are exposed to sun, wind and water 365 days a year. Using these fabrics for pop top canvases that will realistically see the light of day a maximum for 40-60 times a year. We expect them to last for many seasons to come.
What is the best waterproof fabric for a pop top?
Often customers will ring up and ask please give me your most waterproof fabric for a new pop top canvas, this is because they likely have leaking pop top canvas and want the rain to stop coming in. The problem here is the more water resistant a fabric is the less breathable a fabric is. We might fix one problem, but create another problem with condensation. It is about finding the correct balance and through many years of supplying pop top canvases we have found the best overall fabric.
What is the best overall fabric for a pop top?
The best overall fabric If you are looking for something to keep you dry from rain and reduce condensation on the inside of the canvas keeping in mind the UK climate we would recommend choosing WeatherMAX.
What if WeatherMAX doesn’t have the colour I want?
If you can't find the colour you would like with WeatherMAX then the Acrylic option makes a great second choice, a little less breathable than WeatherMAX, but comes in a wide range of colours.
What is the ultimate water resistant fabric for a pop top?
If youre a hardy camper enthusiast and are planning to expose your campervan to the extreme weather then StormGuard Pro is where we would turn to. What it lacks in breathability it makes up in being very very water resistant!

WEATHERMAX
TECHNICAL

- ▪️Highly breathable and flexible
- ▪️Double strength and twice as durable than Acrylic materials, yet boasts 6 times the abrasion resistance
- ▪️ Often used on outdoor applications from restaurants awnings to military marine covers
BOTTOM LINE
This fabric is our go to fabric for manufacturing pop top canvases. It has the greatest breathability, whilst still maintaining necessary water resistance to keep the rain out.
Selecting a highly breathable canvas will reduce condensation and moisture build up inside the pop top producing a dryer more comfortable camping experience.
ACRYLIC

- ▪️ A synthetic woven 300gsm base material supplied in either an uncoated or PU coated finish
- ▪️ A highly technical but natural canvas appearance
- ▪️ Perfectly suited to withstand the rigours of the outdoor environment
- ▪️ Solution dyed for colour stability and UV resistance
BOTTOM LINE
Heavily used on the marine side of our business, thanks to its breathability and decent water repellency properties, it is also makes a great fabric to use for pop top canvases.
It's real selling point is the vast selection of colour choices that are available.
ODYSSEY

- ▪️ Featuring high strength, dimensional stability, abrasion, mildew and ultra-violet resistance
- ▪️ It offers a high degree of water resistance
BOTTOM LINE
It is a great budget friendly fabric, which we have used this for years. Supplied as a non breathable fabric available in grey or for printed patterns.
It is not far off being the same water repellency as WeatherMAX and Acrylic, but lacks their breathable nature. It does however make a great budget choice or offer pattern printing options.
STORMGUARD PRO
TECHNICAL
- ▪️ Acrylic-coated 407gsm 100% woven polyester fabric (600 denier) utilising a proprietary process to coat both the top and bottom.
- ▪️ Heavy-duty designed to withstand tough conditions.
- ▪️ It is characterised by excellent strength, durability, tear and abrasion resistance, dimensional stability, UV and mildew resistance
BOTTOM LINE
This is a heavy duty no nonsense fabric, that sits head and shoulders above its competition for the water repellencey.
It's high density weave and duo coating on both sides provides superior durability, tear, abrasion, UV and mildew resistance.
Where it excels in these areas it lacks in breathability.
