The earlier westy had a front hinged roof with a roof rack at the rear.

The later westy has a rear hinge roof with a roof rack at the front.
|VW T2 Dormobile Side Elevating Roof|
The Dormobile range of campers use a side elevating roof also known as the Martin Walter roof, originally fitted to Bedford Vans and Landrovers.
It is easily recognised by the two glass windows and two opening vents in the fibreglass elevating part.

Throughout the 70's, Devon offered several high quality VW camper conversions.
In the mid to late 70's Devon introduced a full length side elevating roof (left) known as the 'Devon Moonraker', which made for a very versatile, useable space.

In 1975 Devon introduced the straight sided poptop, which replaced the 'concertina' poptop of earlier models which was prone to splitting.
